 The Gate Valve body incorporates the following vital elements:

1. Gate: The gate, a rectangular or wedge-shaped disc, which is the main component used in regulating fluid flow. When the gate is lifted, it allow full fluid flow, and when lowered, it blocks the flow. This linear motion distinguishes gate valves from their rotary types like ball valves.
2. Stem: The stem is the part responsible for lifting and lowering the gate. It extends from the gate to the outside of the valve, where it connects to the operating device. The operating device can be a manual handwheel , lever or an actuator.
3. Bonnet: Similar to the bonnet in a ball valve, the gate valve's bonnet is an extension of the body  which protects the stem and its components. It can be welded or bolted to the body and ismostly  made of durable materials to withstand different operational demands.
4. Seats: This seal prevents any leakage of fluids. Seats are sealed where the gate makes contact with the valve body thus , ensuring a tight seal when the valve is closed.
