WOW SOD: The Best DPS Classes in SOD And Ranked - Form IGGM

Comments · 158 Views

All of the great classes in World of Warcraft Exploration Season can play a DPS role, but some are capable of putting out higher numbers than others. if you want very high DPS, then you need to spend WOW SOD Gold to strengthen your class.

Shaman: Good for leveling, but the DPS in the first endgame is terrible

The Shamans is a class that's in a bit of an odd position in Season of Discovery. Its newfound advantage in Tanking thanks to new runes contrasts with the class' lackluster healing and DPS output.

While the Enhancement and Elemental Shaman have some new spells at their disposal, based on DPS logs from previous weeks, they will struggle to achieve comparable DPS by the end of the game. Before Phase 2, Shamans should avoid teaming up as a DPS at the end of the game and instead consider trying out a healer or primary tank role.

Priest: Shadow Priest has a lot of issues, but will be improved in phase 2

The Shadow Priest is one of the coolest classes in World of Warcraft, but in the first phase of Season of Discovery, the class doesn't have powerful abilities. For one, Shadow Priest seems to drain mana faster than any other caster DPS. Shadow Priests, on the other hand, don't have Shadowform until level 40.

Shadowform is a giant leap in power for the Shadow Priest, and the ultimate talent of the Shadow Tree itself. Of course, if you want to get to this point, you need to spend a lot of WOW SOD Gold. But Homonculi, Mind Sear, and Deadly Plague aren't enough to keep this spec at the top of the DPS leaderboard until Phase 2.

Druid: Wild is great if used correctly - it brings wild attack

Druids, like shamans, are in a bit of an odd position in terms of being the best DPS in SOD. The Feral Druid is very powerful, while the Balance Druid doesn't feel as powerful as it should be. This reflects the Druid experience in vanilla World of Warcraft, but with an important caveat: Feral will actually always be better balanced than raid content due to Feral Strike.

Wild Strike is a new Druid rune that grants the class Windfury, arguably the most powerful group buff for melee DPS in World of Warcraft. The Alliance has never been able to use Windfury, a classic shamanic ability, but druids can only use this rune while in the shapeshifted state. Stick with Feral for the best druid DPS in SOD until the later stages to at least change the strength of the balance.

Paladin: Retribution isn’t bad, but it’s not close to Top Meters.

Paladins have the highest meter count in two of the three possible group specs: healer and tank. The Paladin healer's support ability is second only to the Priest, and the Paladin tank can be said to be the best choice for the first phase of the tank. However, Paladin's main DPS spec, Smite, is a bit of a letdown.

Retribution Paladins have a lot of new and interesting tools to play with, like Instant Exorcism and Seal of Martyrdom. But compared to other melee DPS in SOD, they're middling. Retribution Paladins aren't bad in Season of Exploration, but their DPS output just doesn't compare to Rogue or Warrior. But if you can spend a lot of WOW SOD Gold to strengthen your class, then you can also have very powerful DPS.

Mage: Amazing solo player, but mainly useful for groups

Mages are amazing at some things and not so amazing at other things. This class arguably provides the best utility for groups, with the ability to create portals and summon food and water for free. It's also great for soloing and AoE farming, thanks to its powerful AoE spells, Frost Tree's slow/freeze effect, and a host of new powerful runes - and they can now heal, too.

Where mages lag slightly behind is in endgame group content like BFD. If played well, mages can reach the highest DPS meters, especially if the tank pulls out a lot of junk monsters at the same time. But in single-target boss fights, mages can easily run out of mana while doing resource-intensive rotations.

Like the Paladin, the Mage isn't bad at DPS, but its relative niche can be a trap for single-target content.

Warlock: Avoid the pain - the first stage of destruction is much better

Warlocks are arguably the best caster DPS in SOD, but like druids, players have little choice if they want to truly provide meaningful damage in the end game. This is because Tree of Pain is one of the worst DPS specs in Phase 1 SOD, but the Destruction playstyle is arguably one of the best.

Destruction gains some incredibly powerful abilities through its Phase 1 runes, such as Lake of Fire and Incinerate. Pain gets Haunted, which is great for solo open-world missions, but otherwise its offering is pretty bland. If you want to be the best caster class in SOD, choose Destruction - and while it's important, be sure to check out its equally powerful new tanking rune.

Warrior: Great endgame DPS, but extremely gear dependent

Warriors, like thieves, can be difficult to level up because their abilities tend to be tied to the strength of their equipped weapons. As a warrior's gear gets better (and as they gain more runes), their DPS output gets better too. Stick with this class until level 25, upgrade your gear, and suddenly you'll be a regular at the top of the DPS charts (as long as you press the button).

For DPS warriors in SOD, the choice between Fury and Weapon Spec is close, and it mostly comes down to personal preference. In the later stages, the Warrior's talent tree and skill selection will become even more impactful.

Rogue: Hard to upgrade, but arguably the best BFD melee DPS

Warriors and Rogues are nearly tied for the best melee DPS in SOD, but Warriors lag behind Rogues for one big reason: Rogues have kicks and, to a lesser extent, stun effects like Gouge and Eye. Warriors can gain Pummel in the second phase, but otherwise they cannot stun or interrupt opponents in the first phase.

Rogues also rely on equipment, but not as much as warriors. Their ability to interrupt and control enemies is useful for group content, and their unique new tanking abilities are something every player should try before the season ends. Although the class suffers in PvP and requires a lot of complex interactions to be effective, Rogues are the best melee DPS for BFD.

Hunter: Best PVP DPS for all content types

While the Rogue is probably the best melee DPS in WoW SOD, and the Warlock is probably the best spellcaster, the best ranged DPS overall is the Hunter. But interestingly, the Hunter itself hasn't changed much from the original World of Warcraft. What does change is the power of their pets.

The Hunter Rune grants the class ability to turn what used to be relatively annoying combat companions into an army of lone beasts. Hunter pets are powerful enough for solo players and, if managed correctly in dungeons, can push hunters to the top of the DPS leaderboards. Hunters have a reputation for being played by terrible players, but when this class is played effectively (and its new Blessing of Kings rune), it's unbeatable. Hunters are particularly good in Phase 1 PVP, so going into WSG can take advantage of their position in the meta and gain some glory.
