Newspaper from early 1800s discussing the state of Rome and Vatican being deserted..
This is p crazy it’s from 1813 it basically says that sometime between 1791 and 1813 Rome was abandoned (due to noxious atmosphere???) with population dropping from 160k to 60k and then being occupied by 40k “heardsmen”. The author mentions Tartars and It even says the Vatican is abandoned…. Wtf
