Due to danger of Black-Out: Great Britain switches off power to electric cars
In Germany [the Netherlands] electric mobility is hailed as a promising future. In other countries they know better: In Great Britain electric cars are now running out of "fuel".
In the British Isles, owners of electric cars will no longer be allowed to connect them to private charging stations at times when the electricity grid is heavily burdened. From 08.00 to 11.00 and from 16.00 to 22.00 this is only possible at public charging stations and quick chargers. However, these are usually located along freeways or highways.
The reason for these restrictions, which should come into effect from May, is an increased danger of a Black-Out, reports "The Times". That is, electric cars consume too much power. The aim would be to prevent an overload of the power grid, which could possibly lead to a Black-Out.
Another measure to prevent grid collapse would be so-called "randomized days" on which the power supply could simply be switched off for about half an hour.
Such measures do not look like a particularly advanced future technology. Rather like a developing country.
